Liam wasn’t supposed to be my happily ever after.
He wasn’t even on my radar.
He was my husband’s best friend—forbidden.
But my husband is dead and I’m alone. I ache for him and I reach for Liam.

One night with Liam changed everything. Now I have to decide if I truly love him or if he’s just the consolation prize.

Corinne Michaels is an emotional, witty, sarcastic, and fun loving mom of two beautiful children. She’s happily married to the man of her dreams and is a former Navy wife. After spending months away from her husband while he was deployed, reading and writing was her escape from the loneliness.
Both her maternal and paternal grandmothers were librarians, which only intensified her love of reading. After years of writing short stories, she couldn’t ignore the call to finish her debut novel, Beloved. Her alpha Navy SEALs are broken, beautiful, and will steal your heart.

What it can't be over yet!?!?!?! Not like this?!?!?!?! Oh how have I not encountered you Miss Corrine Michael. In the many years of my reviewing it seems almost impossible that someone creating such wonderful stories would have escaped my radar. So, yes impossible or not this was my first experience with Ms. Michael's works, and I am an absolutely from this point on a dedicated fan. I will be on a mission to read all the stories before this and after. As Consolation progressed I began to assume there must have been more to this series. The familiarity between some of the characters and author had me feeling as though they had their own story. Now I know that not only is there another story, but they have there own series and this was a debuting spin off. Regardless, I am a fan and completely in love with this little family. Consolation will reach the extreme peaks and lows of emotions, and readers will effortlessly find themselves investment heart and soul. The power of words are evident in works by author such as this one. The ability to make you weep and wallow in despair or bounce in your seat like a twelve year old girl take a certain exceptional level of talented writing, and it is beyond evident here. Moments of this story had me in emotional overload, and I would not trade one minute. Such a story is a pleasure to review, but the velocity of power is almost tangible. This story is a love story, but it is also a book about survival and the power to move on. This young woman never expected to be widowed at 27, but the display of power and determination to care for her daughter is inspiring. Creating such a story must be difficult. As the timeline spanned out I was concerned that this would be a rush read not leaving enough time to really build the relationship, and allow the grief that another person would experience in such a situation. My concern was futile, because the development was so perfect that this was almost an effortless transition. As way all the other developments throughout, but I was caught off guard at several twists and turns. Michael really knows how to pack a punch, and precariously throws you in a tail spin at a moments notice. The conclusion of this story has a major cliff hanger. This is one for the record books, and I never saw it comes. I know that I say this all the time, but I can not wait to get the next book. I can not experience the level of anticipation that I am experiencing.
