Review: The Keeping (Law of the Lycans #2) by Nicky Charles

Title: The Keeping
By: Nicky Charles
Series: Law of the Lycans #2
My Copy: Amazon.com
Book Whisperer's Rating:

Ryne Taylor was a sexy bad-ass Alpha set on establishing a new pack. Melody Greene was a journalism student researching his work as a photographer or so she said. But could Mel really be trusted or had she stumbled upon his secret? And if she knew, could Ryne save himself and the pack he d left behind without enacting a deadly ancient law known as The Keeping?

Ryne...we met him in the first book and he is just as sexy in the second as he was in the first.

This series keeps getting better and better; there is just no doubt about it.  Mel is a human who has been hired by the man who bought the painting in the first book to track down Ryne and interview him about his work.  After the first few chapters of her trying to track him down, she finally finds him in Canada (with Bryan and Daniel!)  Trying to get an interview with Ryne is like rolling around in thorns...painful! However, Mel appears to Ryne's inter-wolf and that slowly breaks Ryne down.  Their interactions between each other were great.  Ryne has always had women throw themselves at him so when Mel shows him her sassy side, it is new for him and he likes it.  Mel sees Ryne's Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde sides continuously throughout this book.  One moment he cares he is as sweet and caring as can be and the next, he pushes her away.  When the chapters switch to his POV (which I loved that Nicky included his POV) you realize that he has feelings for Mel but he is having a hard time trusting his feelings, his wolf's feelings, and Mel.

I loved that Kane and Elise still played a part in this plot.  It was great to be able to read how their life was progressing throughout the year.

I just found out that Nicky Charles writes these books and posts them for free because she rather you make a donation to any animal shelter.  Wow, how awesome is she?!

This is a good common sense article. Very helpful to one who is just finding the resouces about this part. It will certainly help educate me.
