Review: Love Me by Diane Alberts

Title: Love Me
By: Diane Alberts
Series: Take a Chance Book 2
My Copy: Ebook from Netgalley
BookWhisperer Rating:

Thomas Jones has come to Vegas to win yet another account for his marketing company. But when he sits across from beautiful and sensual Brianna Faulk to deliver his pitch, his desire to leave Vegas as quickly as possible is replaced by the need to get close to her. Yet she resists his
charm.

Brianna knows a date with Thomas could jeopardize her job, but he’s so maddening and insistent, she has a hard time denying him just one date. But that’s all it can be: one date. Because she has to protect her job and her secrets, even if it means giving up a chance at a life she never thought she’d have again.

I was honestly very disappointed in this story. Love Me takes off with Thomas after the conclusion of Try Me. After such a breath taking read; I was anticipating something equally as powerful or maybe even more to this sequel. I did not find that in this story. It did not pack a punch, nor did it take my breath away. I would easily say that this was good read, but after experiencing the previous potential I leave being slightly discouraged. Thomas is a much different character, and the story line took a very different direction. This was not only a romance, but a merging of families. It was so drastically different I think it would have been very hard to create this story with the same pizzazz as book one. That being said I don't know that I could even look at this book as a sequel.

She wants one night. He wants her forever.

Hayden Summers just landed the job of a lifetime taking pictures forTime magazine, but she’s determined to leave with no regrets. The first thing on her list? Erase the memory of her cheating ex with a wild night of anonymous sex. The second? Figure out why her best friend, sexy bar owner Jace Jennings, stopped speaking to her the night she told him about the job.

Jace has a problem. Hayden isn’t just leaving the country, she’s risking her life—just when he’s realized he’s in love with her. When fate traps them in the storage room of his bar together, barely contained desire simmers to surface. In one last attempt to keep her, Jace offers Hayden the one thing she wants: a night of hot sex, no strings attached. But when the night is over, will Jace be able to let her go? And will Hayden leave with her heart intact?

Oh My Goodness! This was such a good story wrapped up in such a tiny book. This was a Netgalley review book, and I just jumped right in not even noticing that it was so short. Nothing about the length hindered this story, and I loved every minute. Hayden and Jace have known one another for years, so it was not necessary for a tremendous amount of detail. With just the right amount of direction, readers find that connection between the two character easily. This is hot and steamy romantic read. With such a great start I will keep an eye out for this author in the future.

three books

This month my name is Mary.My name is different every month—Brandy, Honey, Amy…sometimes Joe doesn't even bother to ask—but he never fails to arouse me with his body, his mouth, his touch, no matter what I'm called or where he picks me up. The sex is always amazing, always leaves me itching for more in those long weeks until I see him again.
My real name is Sadie, and once a month over lunch Joe tells me about his latest conquest. But what Joe doesn't know is that in my mind, I'm the star of every X-rated one-night stand he has revealed to me, or that I'm practically obsessed with our imaginary sex life. I know it's wrong. I know my husband wouldn't understand. But I can't stop. Not yet.

our thoughts This is a rough one!!! I had read the description back when this book was requested, but when it came time to start it I didn’t refresh. It was like picking up a mystery novel, and I quickly learned that this one would take me on one emotional ride. Sadie’s life has not turned out to be quite what she was anticipating. As a young woman she risked everything the day she seduced Adam. Now years later they are married, but with a very different life than what she had expected. After a tragic accident that left Adam crippled she is now more a caregiver than a wife. This story will really twist the readers emotions, and leave you questioning your own loyalty. Just how far will love take you, and what exactly will it cost you? Surrounding this story is a very erotic story as well.

Sadie quickly finds herself in a non physical affair, and it is easy to see where the lines become blurred. With the ever distancing husband, and the growing needs of her own she finds herself drifting through life with a release in sight. With every meeting between Joe and Sadie it is introduced by the tale of his extra curricular activities. This was a inventive display, and I find it interested how each chapter of meeting starts with a story as though the partner of Joe’s are leading the story. This is hot and steamy read wrapped up in a very detailed display of fiction. Questions will be ever presented to readers, and it will take it's toll. I finished this novel feeling exhausted and worn emotionally and mentally. Even though this was a very interesting and intriguing read it is one that readers will feel comforted with it’s closure.

Review: Sweet Jealousy (Sweet Jealousy #1) by Morgan Garrity

Title: Sweet Jealousy
By: Morgan Garrity
Series: Sweet Jealousy #1
My Copy: Amazon.com
Book Whisperers Rating:

Welcome to New York, where the only thing more demanding than the city is the men….

Addison Maxwell is crushed when she loses her job writing an online tech column for Intuition Magazine. No job means no income, and no income means giving up her dream of living in New York City and being forced to move back to her small town in Georgia.

Enter Nathan Sweet, Addison’s gorgeous new boss. With his smoldering blue eyes and chiseled jaw, the thirty-year-old looks more like a model than an executive. On his first day at Intuition, he offers Addison a way to keep her job – take over writing the sex column. The only problem? Addison doesn’t know much about sex.

Fortunately, her hot new boss is all too happy to teach her. But Nathan has a dark side – he’s prone to bouts of irrational jealousy, and his sexual preferences include whips, chains, and all sorts of delicious punishments.

Will Addison be able to keep up with the gorgeous and powerful Nathan Sweet? Or will the dark and damaged billionaire scare her away?

Okay, this book is only 44 pages to read, but it really captivated me in the sense that it was fast pace, it got straight to the point, and that Nathan Sweet is hot!  The things that he asks Addison to do made me shiver.  His want, need to protect, and jealousy for Addison was sexy.  And to only accomplish this in 44 pages makes Garrity and genious.

The ending had me throwing my hands up and saying, “What?”  And then I sat and thought, “I need the next one, immediately.”

Review: Razer's Ride (The Last Riders #1) by Jamie Begley

Title: Razer's Ride
By: Jamie Begley
Series: The Last Riders #1
My Copy: Ebook from Author
Book Whisperers Rating:

Beth Cornett is the town good girl, so staying out of the way of the motorcycle club’s dangerous members was a no brainer. Unfortunately, she manages to catch the eye of Razer, who has every intention of tempting her to take him on despite her misgivings. When her worst fears are realized, she is left heartbroken, determined to forget her walk on the wild side.

Razer was not going to change for any woman, not even Beth. Their lifestyles were too different; betrayed she ran. Realizing his mistake too late; she was not about to forgive and forget. It takes a killer intent on targeting Beth to bring her back to him and The Last Riders for protection. Razer may have learned his lesson, but this time, as long as she is at the club, she has to play by their rules.

What can I say, I love me some good girl / bad boy books.  There is just something about that bad boy teasing, flirting, and just making the good girl let loose and go wild.  That is exactly what this book was.  Beth is thrown in the middle of Razer’s wild life style and is shocked by what goes on but is also intrigued because she has lead a perfect life and Razer’s is anything but.  The moments between them are pretty intense and sexy but Begley also throws in some mixed communication and danger into the mix to bring this book the trifecta of entertainment: hot scenes, drama, and danger.

I will say that there were many scenes that had me shocked.  The motorcycle gang’s view on open relationships, the mystery of who wanted Beth hurt, and (oh man this one killed me) Razer’s betrayal (twice!)  I enjoyed reading about bad boy Razer and good girl Beth and hope that the second book will be about Shade!

BookWhisperer Review: Breaking the Rules by Jennifer Lewis

Title: Breaking the Rules
By: Jennifer Lewis

BookWhisperer Rating:
2 Stars

A fortune teller predicted Joe Figueroa would meet the love of his life that very night, so he took fate by the horns and chose his wife. Now his marriage and his naval career are in ruins and he’s got a bone to pick with that psychic. When he tracks her down the haunting gypsy beauty doesn’t look a day older, just more entrancing than ever.

Did Joe choose the wrong woman to marry that night?

Susana Cigan barely recognizes the man whose fate she’d once seen linked with hers. Yet Joe awakens something inside her that stirs her body and threatens her psychic gift. She’s tired of her gypsy heritage confining her in a narrow world of tradition and superstition and knows she could lead this wounded and hostile stranger on a journey to redemption. Will she dare to follow her heart and venture into unfamiliar—and sensual—territory with this man who threatens to break all her rules?

I was thoroughly disappointed. This was a Netgalley read for me. It had caught my eye while I was perusing through new titles. I was anxious to check it out, but I quickly found this was not the whirl wind romance I had anticipated. Steamy and hot at moments, yes, but that was about where it ended. The story was not one that would stand alone, and be noticed. I must have a story to die for, and this just did not supply it for me. This did prove to be an easy going read and vaguely short, but if you are looking for something that you will remember. Something that will take your breath away, and leaving you demanding more. This is not it. ~BookWhisperer Reviewer JO~

Life threw Elana a curveball...
Her mother died in Iowa and Elana was left to fend for herself with an abusive and drunken father who couldn't care less about her well being. After years of heartache and pain she graduated from high school and moved to Florida to go to college with her best friend Tiffany.
A new beginning...
That’s where she met Jaxon. He was everything she didn’t need. He was a cocky, tattooed, and a beer drinking musclehead. He was the type of guy that she normally would have avoided given her circumstances but when he offers her a bed to sleep on she can't say no.
She never thought that she would discover they weren't much different from one another and that he had his own secrets and scars he didn’t want revealed to anyone...
our thoughts
Updated this will not be reviewed here, because it was not created by this author. It was also copied from two of the best loved books Easy and Beautiful Disaster. It saddens us that things like this are happening in the book community.

Review: Release Me (Stark Trilogy #1) by J. Kenner

Title: Release Me
By: J. Kenner
Series: Stark Trilogy #1
My Copy: Ebook from Netgalley
Book Whisperer Rating:

He was the one man I couldn’t avoid. And the one man I couldn’t resist.

Damien Stark could have his way with any woman. He was sexy, confident, and commanding: Anything he wanted, he got. And what he wanted was me.

Our attraction was unmistakable, almost beyond control, but as much as I ached to be his, I feared the pressures of his demands. Submitting to Damien meant I had to bare the darkest truth about my past—and risk breaking us apart.

But Damien was haunted, too. And as our passion came to obsess us both, his secrets threatened to destroy him—and us—forever.

Holy crap, Damien is Mr. Sexy Pants!

This book was seriously hot because Damien Stark was hot.  It kind of follows the line of most popular books being published now (i.e. Crossfire) but this story has it’s own little twists and turns to set it apart.  Nikki has a dark and gritty past than the other female characters.  However, she is brilliant at her job, which is why her boss brings her to an art exhibit to “woo” Mr. Stark.  The heat between them flies right off the page, there is a connection and that is how the book starts.

Damien knows what he wants and always gets want he wants.  And you guessed right, he wants Nikki.  I found him more kind than all the other male characters out there in this genre.

Chapters are filled with the intense passion between the two, which, of course, I adored.  If you like books like Crossfire, etc. you will like Release Me.

Review: Conquer Your Love by JC Reed

Title: Conquer Your Love
By: J.C. Reed
My Copy: Ebook from Author
BookWhisperer Rating:

Meeting Jett was like bad luck. Dangerous. Unpredictable. And better avoided. In his game, the stakes are high. But are they worth the risk?

Brooke Stewart, a realtor in New York, finds forgetting is hard, but forgiving is harder. When the man she trusted, betrayed her, the only way to forget is to move on. Brooke is determined to start a new life, until she meets him again: the green-eyed, sexy as sin, six foot two sex god. The man who played dirty. The man who played her.

Sexy, rich, and arrogant Jett Mayfield knows he has made mistakes. He could have any other woman, and yet it’s Brooke he wants. When second chances collide with secrets and Brooke is threatened by the past, Jett is determined to protect her. She accepts his help unwillingly because she needs him but she wants to play his game on her own terms. And she has no intention to forgive or let him back into her bed.

When the man she is supposed to hate is the one she should trust, will he conquer her…or lose her forever?

A woman who can’t forgive.
A man who has made mistakes.
Two lives that are about to cross again and more secrets laid bare.
Overlooking the fact that I am sleep deprived, cranky, and depressed; I have nothing but great things to say about this second installment to Surrender Your Love. I had to stay up well into the wee hours of the morning to finish this book last night. Brooke and Jett are an explosive combination, and I love every minute of their journey. I liked the reluctance to jump into rekindling the romance in the beginning. This story seemed to take a little more priority in the story than the first book, and it was welcomed addition. While I was a little distraught with the whining nature of Brooke's character for a brief stint; it was quickly understood with the developments of the story. I am always so sad to see these stories come to a close. I love JC Reed's style and talent. She will take you on whirlwind romances that leave you breathless with want. I look forward to seeing what is to come in the final installment that was publicized at the end of Conquer Your Love. With all of the new developments I see this story taking quite a different direction.
