Indy Savage, cop's daughter, rock chick and used bookstore owner, has been in love with Lee Nightingale, once bad boy, now the man behind Nightingale Investigations, since she was five years old. No matter what ingenious schemes Indy used to capture his attention, Lee never showed an interest and Indy finally gave up. Now Indy's employee, Rosie, has lost a bag of diamonds and bad guys are shooting at him. When Indy gets involved, Lee is forced to help. Complicating matters, Lee has decided he's interested, Indy's decided she's not. But she can't seem to keep Lee out of her life when she's repeatedly stun gunned, kidnapped and there are car bombs exploding (not to mention she's finding dead bodies).

Indy's best bet is to solve the mystery of the diamonds before Lee. Lee's challenge is to keep Indy alive and, at the same time, win back her heart.

our thoughts

I have read all of Kristen Ashley’s books out of order. I started with the Colorado Mountain series, first book of Unfinished Hero, then all of the Dream Man, finished the Unfinished Hero series, and then started on Rock Chick. All I can say is it is about time that I finally get to know about Lee, who is a character in most of the above series but I never knew him. Now I know him and now I love him even more.

Lee is extremely sexy with his alpha male mentality and such an awesome character. He runs his own PI business (that employs sexy men…bonus for us readers) and secretly harbors a crush for Indy. This to me was the cutest thing ever because based on the actions that Indy has taken in the past to seduce Lee, he has always shut her down because she was too young at the time. However, when Indy gets herself into a little danger, Lee does not mess around and goes full force with his feelings of love and protectiveness towards her.

I could see KA’s personality coming out in this book based on the absolute crazy (but funny) situations Indy put herself into. The bar scene just made me laugh because instead of staying in the care like Lee tells her to, Indy gets out and gets involved in a bar fight.
