She’s running from the law, and the law wants her bad.
The opportunity was just too damn delicious for Ginger Peet to pass up. The purse full of money she finds—$50,000 to be exact—could give her and her teen sister the new start they need. So she grabs the cash, her gothy sibling, and their life-sized statue of Dolly Parton, and blows outta Nashville in a cloud of dust. Chicago, here we come...
Turns out, Chicago has some pretty hot cops. Hot, intense, naughty-lookin’ cops like Derek Tyler, who looks like he could eat a girl up and leave her begging for more. And more. Tempting as he is, getting involved with the sexy homicide lieutenant next door poses a teensy problem for a gal who’s on the lam. But one thing is certain—Derek’s onto her, and he wants more than just a taste.
And as far as he’s concerned, possession is nine-tenths of the law.
I admit that I loved this book, front to back. I couldn’t sleep one night and started this at 2am and just continued reading until it was time to get up for work. Ginger had just the right amount of sweetness to her edginess that made it easy for a reader to like her character. Derek on the other hand is just all male, all hot, and all possessive. All qualities that I love.
This book made me fan myself because it got so steamy. There were so many parts that just made my mouth drop open.
1.) The part when he gets her in his car (after his work function) and what he says to her. 2.) The bathroom scene (after the car ride home.)
3.) The bar scene.
I mean, Derek just ruined me for real men.
However, there is more to this book then just the steamy parts. Ginger and her little sister Willa are trying to make a new life for themselves and Derek is slowly learning how they have been able to do so. I found myself really cheering for Ginger and Willa to succeed because of their horrible past. I wanted for them to continue to achieve their goals and not let the past catch up with them. But what kind of story would this be if it didn’t have some drama attached to this hot story?!
