Four years ago, Mitch Lawson moved across the breezeway from Mara Hanover and she fell in love with the tall, good-looking police detective who had an uncanny ability to dress well even though he’s single. It was not a stalker kind of love; she knows she has no hope since Mitch is way out of her league. That doesn’t change the fact that he’s her dream man.
Then one day Mara’s faucet won’t turn off and she knows nothing
about plumbing. Being a good guy, Mitch offers to help then he invites himself over for pizza. Mara gives it a go but finds herself running away from him (literally) on their first date, standing him up their second and then she runs into him (again literally) on her way to save her ne’er do well, criminal cousin’s kids who’d just run away from their ne’er do well, criminal Dad.
Suddenly, Mara finds she has on her hands the guardianship of two kids and a gorgeous police detective who’s willing to do anything to help out… including giving fabulous foot rubs.
But Mara knows who she is and where she came from and she knows Detective Mitch Lawson is better than her. Hot law man Mitch disagrees and his challenge is to convince Mara to let go of her past and he sets about building a family at the same time he finds he also needs to protect them all against known and unknown adversaries that would tear them apart.

our thoughts finl Oh Mitch My Mitch!I am so absolutely in love. After patiently waiting through Wild Man I was thrilled to get this book started. Now I must admit that my expectations for his story were totally off base, but the story was still incredible. Mara just does not see herself as everyone else does, and I was constantly rooting for her to overcome this past. The ready made family was PERFECT. Billie and Billy grabbed my heart from the start, and I fell even more in love with Mitch for his immediate acceptance. Every situation just pushed in further and further in PERFECTION! This was drastically different from Mystery Man, and his character was not what I had anticipated. As I have said several times Kristen Ashely is the BOMB! Her wonderfully talented novels offer a rollercoaster of emotion that readers will NEVER want to end, but all good things must come to an end. Relax though, because that just means Tack is right around the corner. YYyyuummm!

I believe I speak for both Jackie and I when I say we have a love for Kristen Ashley and the characters that she willingly offers us to love.  She never disappoints and always presents with a solid read.

Law Man is one of those solid reads. Mitch Lawson gets wrapped up in Mara's life and does so willingly and hottly!  But Mara doesn't want his help at first and sheshies away from him and that involves Mitch picking Mara up and holding her and explaining to her that what he wants is what he wants and he wants her!  Just a side note: I would have said yes when he first walked into the door.

Also, this book is filled with emotional moments between Mara and Mitch, Mara and her family, Mara , Mitchell, and the children.  Oh, don't even get me started on the children! Too cute!

They filled the story with such love and vulnerability.

And then comes the love between Mara and Mitch (sigh) and most importantly the love between Mitch and the kids.  Nothing made my heart flutter more than when he sat Billy/Bud down and explained to him that he was going to take care of him and his sister, that he loves their Aunt Mara and will take care of her, and that he loves Billy and Billie (double sigh.)
