About the book:

High school junior, Kylie Bates, can suddenly read minds. When she touches people’s hands, she’s able to see their deepest thoughts. As if that’s not freaky enough, her dad sends her to help hottie detective, Sam Williams, track down a missing girl. Way too much pressure, especially for a girl who can’t watch Scream without getting nightmares.
Then, finding the missing girl leads to much more than Kylie’s prepared for. Like discovering that her dad has been lying to her. That she has a family she never knew about. That the girls have powers similar to hers. Oh yeah, and that someone is out to get her.
When the detective’s teenage wanna-be-cop cousin, Trip Williams, approaches Kylie at school insisting she help him solve the case, she discovers Trip might be the only one she can trust, and the only one to help her unravel the secrets behind her mysterious gift.

Reviews Plate Thrilling new young adult series! Kylie thinks she is just every other girl trying to steal the attention of her number one crush, maintain her 4.0, and be the best best friend possible. These seem like such mundane desires when her life begins spinning out of control, and she discovered she if far from normal. Kyle has the ability to see what others are thinking by merely touching. This was a complete mystery until a very disturbing incident with what she thought to be a door to door salesman. Now she is being pushed to find a missing girl, and the lies and betrayals are getting deep. With more than any young girl should face Kylie must uncover this mystery before it cost her her own life. This was an exceptional novel, and debut for this series. I was honestly questionable about the book after the first couple chapters, but questions pressed me forward and the book seemed to take off. This mysterious story of families with special abilities is not unqiue to the genre, but the storyline and build up was incredible for offer a fresh read. Kylie is a strong and genuine character that has found herself in a mess. This is not your typical girl that is running around not using her head, but an incredibly intelleigent and witty character that just happens to be in a mess. This storp had many experiences that offered a different outlook to the same old story, and I was intrigued by the innocence displayed. I loved Kylie's father from the start; the honesty of their relationship is refreshing. Where as many novels recently are built around lies and secrets between child and parent that was not the case in this story. Kylie did not hesitate to open up and tell her father about her abilities. I know that as the story continues this is not totally the case, but it was honestly a very great approach for this relationship. I hope that as the story continues this relationship will mend and grow. Susan offered such an incredible list of characters, but I was throughly impressed with the relationship between Trip and Kylie. This was not your typical boy meets girl BAM! their in love. Suan built and shaped this relationship with confidence through interactions and support between the two characters. The result was a romance of intensity and emotion that readers will feel through the pages. Talk about an incredible start for this series, and I absolutely can not wait to see where this will go. So many questions left unanswered and issues left unresolved promise action packed sequels to come. This is a BOOKWHISPERER RECOMMENDATION!!!
