About the Book:
My name is Rachel Clancy. Thirty years before I was born, the world ended. Today is my sixteenth birthday. Today I will go Upwards to fight the monsters and, statistically speaking, I won’t be coming back—at least not still living.

Initiation is the story of sixteen year old Rachel Clancy, born with a specific set of genes that let her fight monsters, she has trained her entire life to kill Vampires and Werewolves. Knowing since birth what her destiny would be has not made the onslaught of emotions she faces as she journey Upwards any easier. It doesn’t help that her father is drunk and her best friend just doesn’t get ‘it.’

Rachel isn’t prepared for the level of deception she faces, and before long she will find herself on a quest she is in no way prepared to handle. What happens next will alter not only Rachel’s life but the lives of everyone she knows. She will learn beyond a shadow of a doubt that sometimes the monsters we know are worse than the ones we don’t and that love can surprise us when it comes from somewhere we never anticipated it.

If she lives, she will be a Warrior. If she doesn’t, no one will ever remember her name.
Check it out below, both Miranda and I reviewed this title. It was so incredible that I thought I would give you two views, and all the more reason to read it.

In this supernatural apocalypse twist;  Initiation creates a world where brutal werewolves and vicious vampires rules. Rachel is one of the few humans remaining that have begun recovering from the massive onslaught that occurred forty six years before the start of this story. After the end of the world humans begun societies underground. In Rachel's post the are divided among Warriors and non depending on their testing as infants. Warriors are trained from children to protect and hunt. At the age of sixteen they take their first mission above ground. This happens to be were this story begins with Rachel's first mission. The story that follows was powerful and enticing. Rachel's character has a history that will work againist her, but as the story progresses she matures and grows into her role. I was a little put off by the number of love interested, and felt a little overwhelmed but I was so captivated by the story that it was easily overlooked. Rebeeca Royce will catapult you though a rollercoaster of emotions. I was so aborsed in her story that the ended took me by surprise. I cant wait to see what book two will offer. ~BookWhisperer Reviewer JO~

I don’t think I have ever had such a unique book placed in front of me to read.  The synopsis of this book was intriguing enough, but the book itself was amazing.  I loved the idea of Armageddon making the remaining humans live below, under the Earth’s surface and the beasts (Vampires and Werewolves) above.  Rachel has the “warrior” gene and because of this, she must go above ground to fight the vampires and werewolves.  While up there, alone, she comes face to face with these beasts and falls for a werewolf.  Rachel is shown a different world than that that was taught in her underground school.  I recommend this book because it takes you on such a different ride than most stories. Also, book number 2 (Driven) is already cued up on my Kindle to read.
