Will he be the key to solving the mystery surrounding her family's past?

Reviews Plate I experience something very unusual while read this novel. There are many times that I find a book that will begin slowly, but turn out to be an extraordinary story diamonds in the ruff. I hate having to give any type of negative reviews, but this story was exactly the opposite for me. Starting out I was feeling the characters, and engrossed with the direction of this story. As the story continued it almost seemed to lose some of it momentum, and I became distant from the story. As the details mounted and the characters became more complex it felt as the though they were not longer so clear cut for my understanding. As I struggled with the remainder of the story; I desperately hope to see more from this author that will carry the same aggression that I experienced in the beginning of this story.

Tell Me About It:

He knew she was gone the second her cool touch withdrew from his arm. He never saw her but had felt her disappear into some cold, dark place. He perceived the black emptiness where she had been summoned, her deep anxiety filling his heart. But he couldn't reach her. He didn't even know her name.
Elias moved to Hazel Grove, California to get away from the rain, his parents, and everything that was taken from him in Hayward, Washington. But he thinks he may be going crazy when he starts seeing purple glitter in the air, the scent of rosemary is everywhere, and he is hearing a beautiful voice.
Jane is content in her life of solitude in the quiet town of Jasmyn Lake, but when her special magic sends her on a journey to meet the man she has been dreaming about for months, she cannot resist.
Look into the world of The Enchanters, where water has a sense of humor, trees scare people, and love - is destiny.

Reviews Plate

Violet Midnight was a difficult book to review. From the start it was confusing and a bit frustrating. The author jumps into a story running, and with the lack of transitions between characters and time from one chapter to the next this was almost overwhelming. Curiosity seemed to push me through the struggles, but once the story slowly came together it was lacking the emotional pull that would accompany a great read. Overall, I can say after concluding the book that was mildly entertained, but this is not a story that I would care to revisit.

Escape to a world where the impossible becomes possible.
WHISPER CAPE is a town of secrets and Addison MacKenna soon becomes tangled in a web of them. Plagued with nightmares of her father’s sudden and brutal death, Addie struggles with her anguish and refuses to believe his demise was accidental.
Fighting to shake off one of those devastating early morning nightmares, Addison finds it even harder to escape from the vision of a man lying on the side of the road—a man she may have just killed. When she frantically tries to locate him, he seemingly disappears, just the beginning of strange occurrences in her life. She also cannot ignore the weird sensations in her own body. Suddenly, the impossible seems possible, but is that a blessing or a curse?
Believing that her continual and worsening nightmares are both the key to her own new abilities and the clue to her father’s death, Addie knows she will not rest until she has the answers she craves. As she strives to cope with her new remarkable talents, someone else learns of her abilities—a disgruntled maniacal psychopath with his own agenda that involves eliminating Addie. The only one who can protect her, instruct her in the use of her powers and teach her how to destroy the murderous monster is the same man who makes Addie’s heart race and her blood heat with passion. The same man she’d left for dead.
Cael Sheridan may be arrogant and mysterious but he's also undeniably gorgeous. A member of a secret society, he is sworn to protect the woman he believes to be the daughter of his recently murdered mentor. In the process, he finds it impossible to resist her magnetic sensuality, complicating his efforts to shield and guide her as she learns to manage her newly acquired skills. At the same time, Addison has much to teach him about trust and commitment. Fate has brought them together, but will it make them stronger or destroy them both in end?

Reviews Plate This is perfect The BookWhisperer reviews Whisper Cape, fitting huh? Whisper Cape is an intense romance; with a touch of paranormal. With Addison as the main character this is a easy going and laid back atmosphere relates to her genuine and good natured personality. When women start appearing dead about the small town of Whisper Cape Addison soon finds herself the victim of one strangers desires. This is not your chick lit, or fancy dancy love story; but rather a brutal and honest romance that promises to get your blood pumping. This novel was intended as a romance, and directs more of its attention in that direction. Personally, I am a huge fan of amazing stories that includes a romance; Whisper Cape appears to be more of a romance, and a little bit of an incredible story.

Regan Post for Today’s Stop

Thanks for having me here on the book whisperer today, Jackie. I wanted to do something a little different for his blog tour and Jackie suggested I try a Top Ten Birthday Wishes List. So here goes.

I thought this would be an easy list to make, but it is actually really hard. It’s not as if I have everything, because I don’t, it’s just that there really aren’t many things that I need. I could mention some things like world peace and no more starving children but this isn’t a beauty pageant and let’s face it, those things are a given. Of course, I want those, but I don’t want to bore the pants of my readers either. So, I’m gonna go out on a limb here and dream big.

Starting with …

10.      A new car. Yes, I really do want this. But not for me, for my husband. I like my car but he keeps borrowing it, so I’d like a new car for him. It doesn’t have to be brand new, just something that looks nice and is comfy inside. Ideally, something with four-wheel drive would be great, since we live so close to South Lake Tahoe.

9.    I’d love an unlimited supply of books. Well, maybe not unlimited, but enough to keep me busy for a couple of months. I do like to support my fellow authors.

library

8.    I could really use a bicycle. I jog occasionally, or walk, but I would really like a bicycle for a change. What would make this even better would be a gift certificate along with the bike for several audio books to listen to while riding or jogging.

7.    Having a pedicure and manicure are a great way to relax and for a birthday, a bottle of champagne shared with my husband while we are being pampered. And while we are on the subject of pampering, how about a full body massage.
 champagne

Here’s to you!

6.    I’d like to sit in a bubble bath with a good book, unless of course, I have company. Nuf said.

5.    Let’s be honest, here’s something that would really make my day. To find out that I just sold a million copies of my novel. I guess this is every writer’s wish. Hmmm … maybe this should be number one.

4.    Visits from friends and family. I never get tired of visits from my kids and I love when my friends come to visit from out-of-town. It always gives us an excuse to do some of the awesome things available to us around this area. Hiking or biking around the lake. Wine tasting is right up there at the top of my list. We have some fantastic wineries around here.

3.    Okay, now that I’ve mentioned it, I wouldn’t mind going wine tasting for my birthday. I love to do this on a warm sunny day and take along a picnic basket with some Brie or Dubliner cheese and crackers. Can’t forget the chocolate.
picnic

2.    I’d love to finish my next two books and get them out there to my readers, and with any luck, this should be sometime this year, starting with Allusive Aftershock, my YA novel. After that, the sequel to Whisper Cape.
And finally … This list was difficult to make and I had to keep switching the order around as I made it because things would pop into my head and then I’d think … wait, that is more important so that should be number four or three. But the one wish I didn’t have any problem with the order was my number one  choice …

1.    I’d love to go to Germany to see my new grandson. He was born November 17, 2011. My son is a fire fighter in the Army and stationed in Germany and my heart aches to go see them.

I want to thank Jackie for giving me the opportunity to post my somewhat outrageous but true birthday wish list. Thanks for reading.

Bound by Blood is a spicy and exotic read that will leave you breathless. I was anticipating a fast read, but what I was not prepared for was the absolute awesomeness of this story. As a short story I was expecting an abrupt romance, but what I found was a carefully crafted story that twists and turns around the characters. Cynthia displays her talent and creativity building a story with a past and a future. Jace has been admiring the Vampire Princess for years. with forbidden feelings has bided his time for this perfect moment. The moment just arose when the Princess walked through the door of a Wolf Bar, and claimed to be his future mate. Little does she know that hers is not the only plan in action, and more importantly when wolves mate it is for life.

Trafficked Book Blog Tour

It has been a pleasure participating in the Blog Tour for Trafficked by Kim Purcell. This was not your everyday run of the mill young adult novel. Trafficked is a suspenseful ride from the beginning to end. My post today is a guest post provided by the author Kim Purcell. Take a look at what she had to say.

trafficked

Title: Trafficked

By: Kim Purcell

About the book:

A 17-year-old Moldovan girl whose parents have been killed is brought to the United States to work as a slave for a family in Los Angeles.

What Kim had to share about her book!

When people read my novel, TRAFFICKED, about a girl who comes from Moldova to America to be a nanny and ends up as a modern-day domestic slave, they think I must have interviewed a bunch of modern-day slaves.  It¹s not true. I never met a modern-day slave. I didn¹t end up speaking to any girl or woman who would fit a legal definition of a trafficked person. I never met someone who was exactly like my character, Hannah, who was trapped in a house, threatened to the point that she was too afraid to leave. However, I talked to women who¹d been afraid of their employers, who¹d agreed to take less money than they¹d been promised because they feared deportation, and who¹d put up with egregious working conditions due to fear. I read a lot of real-life stories about modern-day slavery and I talked to people who worked at several anti-trafficking agencies. I didn¹t want to meet someone who was exactly like Hannah because that would have taken the fun out of creating her and writing a story. I am a fiction writer. It is in the fiction part of it that I play with my characters. I have a journalism background, but I didn¹t continue down that path because just telling the straight facts wasn¹t interesting to me. In
my imagination, I dance. Having said that, I had to base this novel on truth. I wanted to portray a story of a modern-day slave, as real to the truth as I could without making it a nonfiction story. If I¹d met a girl exactly like Hannah, I may have felt honor-bound to write her story exactly as she told it to me. Thankfully, I didn¹t. But I¹d like to tell you about Natasha, one of the many girls whom I met in Moldova, when I was researching this book. In the capital city, Chisinau, I read posters everywhere that said: You are not a Product. The anti-trafficking agencies and the government were trying unsuccessfully to stop their girls and women from being trafficked out of the country. It was clear when I met the girls why they were so vulnerable. Most of them were poor, yet smart and ambitious, with few opportunities in their own country. Many of them were being raised by a grandparent
because their parents were working elsewhere. One day after school, I sat with about five girls and a teacher in a classroom. All around us, the chairs had been put on top of the desks. The school was quiet, a big difference from the loud yelling and running I¹d witnessed in the day. One girl was named Natasha. She had straight black hair and wore new, dressy clothes that fit tightly around her middle. She was quiet, shy and very polite. Her English was fairly good in that I could understand her without any problems. I asked the girls about their parents and their family situation. When it was Natasha¹s turn to talk, she admitted in a small, quiet voice that she hadn¹t heard from her mother in almost a year. I¹ll never forget the look on her face, part abandonment, part worry. She stared at the floor by her feet, overcome with emotion, but she didn¹t cry. The other girls watched her with flat, emotionless expressions of their faces. They didn¹t say anything. I felt sure her mother had been trafficked. But all this girl could do was hope and wait. Sometimes, if their families are lucky, the girls and women return without money, their shame so intense that they don¹t tell anyone what happened to them. It¹s terribly sad. I think of Natasha often and hope her mother came back, but I don¹t know if I¹ll ever find out. I can only hope that my novel will bring more awareness to this human tragedy and make people open their eyes to the nanny or housekeeper who may be the slave next door.

Tell me that doesn’t tug at the heartstrings. This is an incredible story, about realistic possibilities. Kim Purcell offers readers a story that will leave them reflecting long after the last page.

Title: Jessica Rules the Dark Side

Genre: Young Adult Paranormal Romance

Released: January 10th, 2012

About the book:

It’s one thing to find out you’re a vampire princess. It’s a whole other thing to actually rule. Newly married Jessica Packwood is having a hard enough time feeling regal with her husband, Lucius, at her side. But when evidence in the murder of a powerful elder points to Lucius, sending him into solitary confinement, Jessica is suddenly on her own. Determined to clear her husband’s name, Jessica launches into a full-scale investigation, but hallucinations and nightmares of betrayal keep getting in her way. Jessica knows that with no blood to drink, Lucius’s time is running out. Can she figure out who the real killer is—and whom she can trust—before it’s too late?

Reviews Plate It is finally here!!!! It has been a extremely long and pain staking wait for this book. I was in love with this series from the first chapter of Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Darkside. There is just something unique about this story that others are lacking. It is not all about the danger and mystery of their kind, but more of a young girl that demands the right to make her own choices. As we begin Jessica's Guide for Ruling the Darkside I was frustrated with her character. After showing so much potential in the conclusion of book one; she has regressed to the weak and simple girl that hide behind Lucius coat tails. This angered me to no end. I was horrified to see Lucius's character have to battle for his very existence in this book, but I was elated to see the opportunity for Jessica to "vamp up". I was beside myself with joy when Jessica put Lucius's uncle in his place at the trial meeting. This was what I had been waiting for! Jessica finally steps into the role of a Queen. She is no longer weak, and she is no longer taking there sh**! On the sidelines it was awesome to also have Mindy's story continue. While, I am discouraged to have seen them step away, and return to California. I am anxious to see if their characters will take a much firmer role in the future. Obviously, this is also my way of also saying that I am hoping for the story continues. Beth Fantaskey is an incredible author, and knows how to tell an awesome story. I love following her characters as they develop and grow. It is obvious that Fantaskey is maturing as an author, and will be a name to watch in the years to come. I am a huge fan, and will continue to follow her books closely; as I am anxious to see where the books take her in the future.

Reviews Plate

Altered is a dark and mysterious tale of secrets and curses. Jenna is not your average eighteen year old anticipating a summer like every other; relaxing with her Grandfather on his farm is what she calls heaven. Jenna and her Grandfather have a very unique and inspiring relationship. There tradition of spending summers together is about to change with Jenna finds herself drawn to an old abandoned cabin on the property. What starts with mild curiosity soon becomes something much danger and sinister. Determined to decipher her discovery she will uncover dangerous secrets that were buried long ago. With her frequent distractions by the dark and mysterious Jess this will  prove a long adventure. When everything begins falling into place she finds the answers were always closer than they appeared. To protect her family she will be left with the choices, and either way she will lose. Altered is a long and tedious journey, but it proved to be a very enjoyable read. Spotlighting moments of suspense and lustful romance it was easy to delve into this story.

Reviews Plate

Love this storyline. Young Love Murder is very complex novel that had me engrossed from the start. They may appear to be just a couple of teenagers, but Annabelle and her brother Jackson are assassins. Having been trained from a very young age they are far from your typical teenagers, and much deadlier. At the start of this story Annabelle is sixteen years old, and a beautiful teenager happens to be just what her current job requires. As a young woman and an assassin she finds herself in a very precarious position when her mission involves attending High School, and winning the hearts of the son and nephew that will gain her access to her mark. In theory this is a carefully mastered and amazing plan, but when matters of the heart are concerned nothing will remain perfect or easy. From this point on this novel becomes a roller coaster of emotion and gruesome truth about this young girl’s life. It touches the highs and low of thin line between love and hate. As it uncovers this brutal world of murder and deception it will captivate readers by its ability to create a necessary evil out of such destruction. Brookshire offers the perfect mixture of dark and light, between Annabelle's life and the romance that ensues. It is crazy the number of directions this story will take you, and be prepared for the ride. This is a very long story, but the pace will carry you through without a hitch. I am curious if we will see another novel created about Jackson, and look forward to reading more from this talented author. Check out this forbidden tale, and the mayhem that will follow.

Russell Leonard is a centuries-old Guardian who’s lost faith in his purpose. So when he’s charged with procuring the first female Guardian in over two centuries, he can only hope it’s the red-headed beauty who’s been haunting his dreams for months. And if it is, he intends to claim her as his. But when he finds his dream woman, Annabelle is mute and bears no Guardian’s Mark.

He soon realizes she’s been tainted by an ancient evil. Russell must somehow release the secrets trapped within this delicate, mute beauty, to help her tap into the only weapon powerful enough to silence a millennia-old demon—her voice.

Reviews Plate Blood Oath is the third installment of the Mystic Wolves series. Belinda Boring a fellow book blogger, and an amazing author has taken readers by surprise with her raw talent. Over the past two books readers have followed Mason and Darcy through an emotional and tragic order. After the loss of Jasmine it has finally come time to lay her to rest. As Darcy and Mason try picking up the remaining pieces; new discovers will beg new questions and predict danger for their future. As an Alpha, Mason, is used to danger around every corner; but these enemies just might have the upper hand. I love this series, and always find myself eager to continue the story. This installment seemed a tad slower than the two prior reads, but the ending left me desperate for the next book. Belinda Boring has proven to be an incredibly talented author, and I anxiously anticipate a bright future with much more to read.

Hey Guys!!! I recently had the chance to review Anew by Chelsea Fine. I loved how effortlessly she seems to embrace the young adult paranormal genre. At first attempt this was outstanding. I can’t wait to see what to come for The Archers of Avalon series.
