Book Whisperer's Rating:
Early in her life, Josephine Malone learned the hard way that there
was only one person she could love and trust: her grandmother, Lydia Malone.
Out of necessity, unconsciously and very successfully, Josephine donned a
disguise to keep all others at bay. She led a globetrotting lifestyle on the
fringes of the fashion and music elite, but she kept herself distant.
While Josephine was trotting the globe, retired boxer Jake Spear was
living in the same small town as Lydia. There was nothing disguised about Jake.
Including the fact he made a habit of making very bad decisions about who to
give his love.
But for Josephine and Jake, there was one person who adored them. One
person who knew how to lead them to happiness. And one person who was intent on
doing it.
Even if she had to do it as her final wish on this earth.
I
honestly wonder if Kristen Ashley does anything else besides write awesome
books. I’m not complaining if that is all she does in life because every
time I get a new KA book, my life feels complete.
I
loved the characters that KA gave us in this book. Gran seemed like the
coolest person in the entire world, even though we never get to truly meet
her. And since Gran is wonderful, you know that Josie is wonderful.
However, Josie becomes more wonderful when she meets Jake and his kids.
Something about the Spear gang brings out a maternal and loving side of Josie
that you didn’t see in the beginning of the book. Actually the Spear gang
really helps develop Josie as a character because for once, she can trust
love.
Side
note: Jake Spear is freaking hot. How in the world can KA write such sexy
men that are not real?
I
would say that this book was a solid four stars for me until I got to the very
last few chapters and then my love for it grew. I did not end this book
with a dry face. What happened in those chapters made me feel all warm
and squishy inside and so much loved poured out of those chapters that I
couldn’t deny my emotions any longer and just let it all out. KA wrapped
it up so beautifully that as the reader, I did not need any more. I
learned about these characters, I fell in love with them, and then I saw their
love and was completely content with the ending.
