Title: Tempting the Player

By: Jennifer L. Armentrout

Series: Gamble Brothers #2

My Copy: Ebook from Publisher

BookWhisperer Rating:

five books

Chad Gamble, all-star pitcher for the Nationals, is one of the best players on—and off—the field. And right now, the notorious bad boy wants Bridget Rodgers. But with her lush curves and snappy comebacks, the feisty redhead is the kind of woman a man wants to settle down with…and that’s the last thing Chad needs.

When the paparazzi catch them in a compromising position, Chad’s manager issues an ultimatum: clean up his act or kiss his multi-million dollar contract goodbye. To save his career, his meddling publicist says he'll have to convince everyone Bridget isn’t just his flavor of the week, but his girlfriend.

Being blackmailed into a fake relationship with Chad Gamble isn’t easy, especially when the sizzling physical attraction between them is undeniable. With a month to go on their arranged pretense, it's going to take every ounce of willpower they have not to fall into bed together...or in love.

I love Jennifer! I love everything she writes.  She can write young adult books and rock the crap out of them.  She can right adult books and rock the crap out of them.  She could probably take the worst book in the entire world, add her own twist and she could rock the crap out of it.  Do you see where I am going with this?

Anyways, I’m going to back away from my love for Jennifer’s writing and talk about the book.  To me, the synopsis is something that has been written about a lot lately but I feel it is high above all the others.  The writing flows and the switch between the two character’s POV are so smooth that you clearly know whose mind you are in.

You want Chad, you want him because he gives off this air of manliness (that is the only word the embodies all of it.) If I had to pick between breathing air or having Chad, I would really have to sit down and think about it.  I would probably make a pie chart or something before I made my final decision.  Chad knows what he wants and he gets what he wants and what he wants is Bridget.  However, Bridget is not so sure she is right for Chad because all she has ever seen him with is supermodels and Bridget, herself, is not a supermodel.  But he still pursues which gets them both into this mess of fake dating for Chad’s reputation.

This book is HOT from the first chapter to the very last and it teases you!  Jennifer writes these moments of intensity and then backs off to give the reader this push and pull feeling.  I was pulled into these steamy moments with them together and then pushed away before I knew what was going on.

A great second book in a series (The Gamble Brothers) and I cannot wait until the third.
