Tell Me More:

Hardships and heartache brought them together…now it will tear them apart.

Layken and Will have proved their love can get them through anything; until someone from Will’s past re-emerges, leaving Layken questioning the very foundation on which their relationship was built. Will is forced to face the ultimate challenge…how to prove his love for a girl who refuses to stop ‘carving pumpkins.’

Colleen Hoover made us to fall in love with Will Cooper in “Slammed” and now she has given us the ability to fall even more in love with him. “Point of Retreat” is told from Will’s point of view and elegantly done might I add.

After everything that Will and Lake have been through, you would think the universe would back off a little; let them fall in love and have a few years of happiness or “sweet” as the character might call it. But that is not the case in this sequel. Hoover presents problems for Will and Lake that only true love could survive.

I really loved the connection between Will and Lake, even when their relationship was on the rocks because of various events. I also loved the relationship that grew stronger between Lake and Caulder (Will’s brother) and Will and Kel (Lake’s brother.) And I loved the fact that Julia was still apart of the story (what an amazing idea Hoover.)

I know that I don’t even have to type this; if you like “Slammed” then you will like “Point of Return.” Just a suggestion though; I was emotionally drained after finishing the first book and then I went straight into reading the second (equally an emotional book.) My suggestion if you plan to read these side by side is to take a breather after the first book and go pet a kitten or puppy, then dive into the second one. You’ll be glad you did.

Oh, and I loved this quote “The heart of a man is no heart at all if his heart isn’t loved by a woman. The heart of a woman is no heart at all if her heart isn’t loving a man. But the heart of a man and a woman in love can be worse than not having a heart. Because at least if you have no heart at all, it can’t die when it breaks apart.”
