About this title:
After a fire destroys seventeen-year-old Julia’s home and kills her foster parents, she chases the half-demon responsible across the country and back, determined to avenge her family and discover why a host of celestial baddies want her dead. With Julia is enigmatic hottie - Cayne, who has his own score to settle with the half-demon, and who might be just as dangerous as the creature he and Julia hunt.

As part of the blog tour for Ella James debuting novel Stained, she has created a guest post for us here on The BookWhisperer. Check out what she had to share about the Stained series below.

Ella James Guest Post

Julia is the feisty, strong-willed heroine of the Stained Series—a former foster child who sneaks out to visit a friend down the street and returns to her adoptive parents’ home to find it burning. A few days later, she’s hiding in an old warehouse, laying low to keep from getting tossed into another foster home, when a guy falls through the roof. On his tail is a winged creature, intent on killing both of them…

Julia, you’re 17 and you don’t look like much of a fighter. Though we (and you) know now that isn’t true, at the start of Stained, what made you think you could make it on your own in a city like Memphis?

Julia crosses her arms and looks down at her hot pink All-Stars. “Hmm.” She’s surrounded by white light, and if we had to describe where she is—and where we’ve met her—we’re not sure we could say. Lately Julia’s been doing a lot of astral projection—which, as those of you who’ve read Stolen know, is a Meredith thing. Or was, anyway. When she looks up, her brown eyes are wide and serious. “I’m not sure I was thinking. I think I was pretty much freaking out. It wasn’t a rational decision.” She grins proudly. “But I do think I could have made it, even without Cayne.”

But you weren’t without Cayne. The two of you traveled all across the country and back. Just you and some guy you didn’t know. You’ve said before that you had only left Memphis a few times before meeting Cayne. How different is your life right now than what you thought it would be?

She laughs. “Very,” she says. “Very very.” Her face gets more serious. Almost contemplative. “I didn’t ask for this or anything, but if we could just…figure things out…with Cayne. And me, I guess…” She widens her eyes and goes a few seconds without blinking, like maybe she is trying not to cry. “There’s a lot of things that need to be…figured out.” She raises a hand to her mouth, frowning. “You don’t know what I’m talking about, do you? You haven’t read Chosen?”

“No. It’s not out until sometime this month.”

Julia purses her lips. She swallows hard, and when she speaks all the emotion is gone from her manner, banished to a cold back corner. She is wearing her fighting face. “When we get everything figured out, and everything is good again— I think then I’d say the whole thing has been worth it. Because without Samyaza or any of the Candidate stuff, I wouldn’t have met Cayne.”

Now I’m intrigued—and not necessarily in a good way. “Can you tell us anything about Chosen? We read a little about it at Ella James’ website, but she didn’t give many specifics. Julia, where are you right now…? In ‘real life’? And where is Cayne?” Something I saw on Ella’s site is making me nervous.

Again, her lips are pressed tightly together. She shakes her head, and suddenly she looks sad. “I can’t say anything. But you’ll find out. Just wait until Chosen comes out.” She bites her lip. “You’ll see exactly what I mean.”
