Title: Trial by Fire

Series: Raised by Wolves Novel #2

Publisher: Egmont Books (June 2011)

About the book:

Bryn is finally settling into her position as alpha of the Cedar Ridge Pack- or at least, her own version of what it mean to be alpha when you’re a human leading a band of werewolves. Then she finds a teenage boy bleeding on her front porch. Before collapsing, he tells her his name is Lucas, he’s a Were, and Bryn’s protection is his only hope.

But Lucas isn’t part of Bryn’s pack, and she has no right to claim another alpha’s Were. With threats old and new looming, and danger closing in from all sides, Bryn will have to accept what her guardian Callum knew all along. To be alpha, she will have to give in to her own animal instincts and become less human. And at the end of the day, she’s going to have to do it alone.

review plateTrial by Fire is an amazing sequel to the Raised by Wolves debut novel for the Raised by Wolves series. Jennifer Lynn Barnes is young and extremely talented author that is taking this genre by storm. Bryn is a strong and addictive character that readers will love to follow. Barnes creates a novel told by this young girl, but constructed with a variety of strong characters that promise deep careful constructed storylines.  The novel took a drastic turn at the end of Raised by Wolves; as the Cedar Ridge’s new alpha Bryn has mounting odds against her. Most importantly as a human Bryn will always be looked at as the weaker link, and she will constantly struggle to keep her pack safe. As a survivor she has special abilities to get herself out of sticky situations, but will she be able to overcome forever. Bryn has help from Dev, Lake, and Chase; but below the surface their main priority is to protect her leaving her to question their motives. This sequel novel is just as amazing as her first in the series, but it has left me with endless questions for the future. Bryn and her friends may overcome yet again, but it will be with casualties that will cause more ripples and changes for the future.
