Book Description:

New name, new town, new life. Nastasya has done it too often to count. And there’s no end in sight. Nothing ever really ends... when you’re immortal. But this time is different: Nastasya knows that this new town must hold her salvation—or her death.
Nastasya was born into darkness, and has embraced it her whole life. Four hundred years ago, a tragedy robbed her of her birthright, and she’s been living a lie ever since. Now, four centuries of exploring the depths and limits of dark power has left Nastasya feeling sickened unto death. If she continues down this road, she will end up as a very dark, twisted, evil thing—with unthinkable power. Or she can begin the long, painful road toward light, and reclaim the destiny that others tried to destroy.
They’re rare. You may have never met one, never sat next to one on a plane, never eaten in the same restaurant at the same time. But the Immortals are there. Have always been there. Will always be there. Moving among humans, playing out their own cursed fate. Sometimes subtly, sometimes with huge, sweeping implications for mankind. But no one will ever know. Except you.

Much to my regret, Cate Tiernan is such a difficult author for me. This is the second book  that I have tried to read from this author, and it only took me three tries to read the first book with no success. At least I can now say I have finished a Cate Tiernan book. I don’t mean to sound like such a critic it just wears me down to struggle with a book as much as I do this author. I find her books to be extremely to words and slow paced. She is an author that enjoys depth in her story, and please do not underestimate I love that but that amount of time and amount of detailing makes the story drag. Although, this is more irritating with a good storyline, such as this one. Immortal Beloved is a awesome storyline.  Immortals are not something that we here much about as a whole subspecies. Even better, is the creation of this entire species magical power and the eight houses of Immortals; allow this concept to take on a whole different world. The plot, setting, and characters are superb; which makes this book a  must finish even with the struggles. So any more books of this series I will read, but I will probably note my frustration if the pace continues. The depth to which Tiernan writes her stories is admirable, and I did enjoy this story I just wish we could condense the amount of time detailing.Name Plate copy
